Yaccarino’s First Day
Twitter Chief Executive Officer Linda Yaccarino has started her job at the social media company, she said on the site. “It happened — first day in the books!” she tweeted. Twitter owner Elon Musk is looking to Yaccarino, a former NBCUniversal ad executive, to improve the company’s relationship with brands after losing business following his takeover, and rollback of the site’s content rules.
Colts Investigation
The National Football League is investigating Isaiah Rodgers, the cornerback and kick returner for the Indianapolis Colts, for possible violations of the league’s gambling policy, ESPN reported. The team acknowledged the inquiry and released a statement without naming Rodgers that said, “We are aware of the NFL’s investigation and will have no further comment at this time.” Rodgers addressed the situation in a tweet saying that he wants to “take full responsibility” for his actions.
More Olive Oil Coffee
Starbucks Corp. is bringing its controversial line of olive oil-infused coffee drinks to more US states and cities, CNN reported. The so-called Oleato drinks are already available in California, Illinois, New York and Washington and will be sold in more cities in those states. Customers will also be able to buy the drinks from Tuesday in Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Miami as well as other cities in several states from Alaska to Vermont.
Virginia Mother Charged
The mother of a 6-year-old who brought a gun to his school in Virginia and shot his teacher earlier this year was charged with federal gun crimes, NBC News reported. Deja Taylor, 25, was charged with being an unlawful user of a controlled substance in possession of a firearm and making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm.
Ukraine’s Dam Blast
Ukraine blamed Russia for blowing up a giant dam and unleashing millions of gallons of floodwater across its south, complicating fierce fighting as Kyiv’s forces intensify their counteroffensive to oust Moscow’s troops from occupied territory. The Kremlin denied responsibility and said Ukraine was behind the blast at the Kakhovska hydroelectric plant early Tuesday as the torrent of water threatened to make tens of thousands of people homeless and renewed fears for the safety of Europe’s largest nuclear power station.
