Ukraine’s Zelenskiy to Sweden for Talks With PM, Royal Family

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he traveled to Sweden on Saturday for talks with top officials and members of the royal family.

(Bloomberg) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said he traveled to Sweden on Saturday for talks with top officials and members of the royal family.

“I would like to personally thank Sweden for supporting our struggle for freedom and independence,” Zelenskiy said on Telegram.

The working visit will include meetings with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Speaker Andreas Norlén, the heads of Sweden’s parliamentary parties and the royal family, according to Zelenskiy.

Key topics were said to include “the development of bilateral cooperation, in particular in the defense industry,” including ways to build up Ukraine’s ground and air defenses.

Sweden’s parliament this week approved the transfer of an additional 3.4 billion kronor (about $310 million) in military aid to Ukraine, including ammunition, spare parts, mine-clearing equipment and vehicles.
