(Bloomberg) — Twitter said it has taken action to restrict access to some content in Turkey ahead of presidential and parliamentary elections on Sunday.Â
The move is in response to legal process and aimed at ensuring the platform remains available in Turkey, according to a post by Twitter’s Global Government Affairs account. The account holders affected were informed, Twitter said, adding that the content will remain available in the rest of the world.Â
Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan is seeking another term in elections on Sunday. A six-party opposition bloc nominated Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the leader of its biggest party, for the presidency. Candidates need more than 50% of the vote to win in the first round, otherwise they face a runoff two weeks later. Â
