(Bloomberg) — PepsiCo Inc., which previously told employees some of its workers in Israel couldn’t be located after the recent Hamas attack, said they have now been “accounted for.”
A company spokesperson declined to elaborate further.
On Monday, Chief Executive Officer Ramon Laguarta sent an email to the company about its Israel staff.
“While the majority of our associates are known to be safe, we still do not have everyone accounted for,” Laguarta wrote in the email that was viewed by Bloomberg. “The situation is evolving quickly, and I want you to know I am being briefed regularly and we will do whatever we can to assist in resolving a few extremely challenging personal situations.”
PepsiCo has multiple teams in Israel, including SodaStream, which it acquired in 2018 for $3.2 billion. The soft-drink and snack maker also has a joint venture with Strauss Group Ltd., an Israeli food and beverage company.
In an interview with Bloomberg on Tuesday, Chief Financial Officer Hugh Johnston declined to comment on the impact of the weekend’s terror attacks on operations. “Our focus is entirely on our employees,” he said.
