TOKYO (Reuters) – Japan’s biggest oil refiner, Eneos Holdings, said on Tuesday it has dismissed President Takeshi Saito for misconduct, saying he had behaved inappropriately at a social gathering while intoxicated.
The company conducted an investigation into Saito’s conduct at the event with external lawyers, the company said in a statement.
Eneos’ executive vice president, Yasushi Yatabe, who was present at the gathering, has resigned, the company said. The dismissal comes after the oil refiner’s former chairman and CEO Osamu Sugimori was asked to step down last year after allegations of harassment came to light, Eneos said.
Executive vice president, Tomohide Miyata, will become acting president until a new management structure is decided for the next business year starting April 1, the company said on Tuesday.
