Thailand’s Central Group becomes owner of Selfridges

BANGKOK (Reuters) – Thailand’s largest department store owner, Central Group, has taken control of a joint venture that operates Selfridges department stores in the United Kingdom, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

The unit also operates Brown Thomas & Arnotts in Ireland, and De Bijenkorf in the Netherlands.

Central Group and Austrian real estate company Signa Group bought Selfridges in 2021 in a deal worth $5 billion.
