(Bloomberg) — President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is in Sweden for meetings with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, top lawmakers and the royal family. “I would like to personally thank Sweden for supporting our struggle for freedom and independence,” he said on Telegram. Sweden this week announced a new military aid package for Kyiv.

Russia struck Chernihiv in northern Ukraine with what appeared to be a ballistic missile, damaging the historic city’s downtown area. At least seven people were killed in the attack on a busy Saturday morning, including a child, and dozens injured, Ukraine’s interior ministry said as rescue efforts continue.

President Vladimir Putin traveled to the headquarters of Russia’s Southern Military District for the first time since June’s attempted mutiny by the Wagner mercenary group. He met with top officials including Valery Gerasimov, head of the General Staff, who’d been a key focus of criticism by Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin ahead of the uprising. Russia reported a drone attack on an airfield in the Novgorod region, northwest of Moscow.
