(Bloomberg) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is scheduled to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, according to officials familiar with the plan, as the expiration date of the Black Sea grain deal approaches.Â
The European Union agreed to a raft of measures aimed at boosting the bloc’s production of ammunition and missiles, including €500 million ($545 million) to help companies ramp-up capacity. The deal between the EU’s commission, its member states and the parliament, still needs to be rubber-stamped by the institutions before the act enters into force as soon as the end of July.
Zelenskiy made a diplomatic sweep of NATO members Bulgaria and the Czech Republic as he seeks a clearer path to joining the military alliance before a summit next week. Ukraine intercepted 12 of 18 Iranian-made Shahed drones in an attack overnight, and the death toll from a missile attack in Ukraine’s Western city of Lviv has risen to 10.

Corn futures in Chicago held the previous day’s advance on supply concerns as the operation of the international agreement that allows Ukraine to move exports through the Black Sea grinds almost to a halt.
This is especially important for corn. Almost 17 million tons of the feed grain have been shipped through the Black Sea corridor since the pact started last year, making up about half of all the crop shipments.
