(Bloomberg) — Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva of Brazil don’t plan to meet for one-on-one talks while attending the Group of Seven summit in Japan, according to officials familiar with the matter.

The two leaders were expected to meet on the sidelines of the G-7 gathering taking place in Hiroshima that ended on Sunday. The reasons for the change of plans were unclear, but the officials cited scheduling issues.

Both presidents took part in group sessions on Sunday, and the Ukrainian leader visited a memorial commemorating those who died in a nuclear bomb explosion in 1945.

Zelenskiy’s Surprise G-7 Stop Unnerves Critical Brazilian Leader

Zelenskiy held meetings with several other invited guests, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo, as well as with the G-7 leaders.

The Ukraine leader had traveled to Japan in part to meet face-to-face with leaders from the so-called Global South, which includes Lula, and rally support for his nation’s efforts to resist Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s invasion.
