China’s economy is improving steadily with accelerating mobility: state planner

BEIJING (Reuters) – China’s economy is steadily improving as the recovery of people and goods mobility within the country is speeding up, said Zhao Chenxin, deputy head of the National Development and Reform Commission, during a news conference on Monday.

Zhao said the 2023 GDP growth target of around 5% is in line with current economic momentum, adding that China will tackle risks related to property, finance and local government debt.

China set a modest target for economic growth on Sunday as it kicked off the annual session of its National People’s Congress, which is poised to implement the biggest government shake-up in a decade.
