Volkswagen plants back to regular operations next week after floods

BERLIN (Reuters) – Volkswagen plants will return to regular operations as of next week, after being disrupted for weeks due to the floods in Slovenia, a company spokesperson said on Monday.

A supplier of engine parts affected by the August flooding was only able to deliver to a limited extent, hampering production at plants in Slovenia as well as in Germany.

Flooding in Slovenia had paralysed the production of gear rims at a subcontractor, affecting vehicle manufacturing.

The Handelsblatt newspaper first reported the return to regular operations.
