(Bloomberg) — A peace plan pitched by Ukraine and its allies to more than 40 countries this weekend in Saudi Arabia brought little in the way of firm steps to stop the war or reverse Russia’s territorial gains.
The most tangible outcome from the Jeddah meetings was a plan to form working groups under various points of the 10-point “peace formula” released by Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy last year — on areas including food supply and nuclear security.
Separately, Ukraine struck the Chongar automobile bridge on the border with Crimea, Sergey Aksenov, the governor of the annexed region, said. Russian air defenses destroyed a drone Sunday morning as it approached Moscow, according to the mayor of the capital.
Russia launched waves of missiles at Ukraine overnight in response to an attack on an oil tanker Saturday in the Black Sea region. Deaths and injuries were reported late Saturday after a missile hit a blood transfusion center in Kupiansk in the northern Kharkiv region of Ukraine.
