AMD Hires Marvell Executive Jean Hu as Its Next Finance Chief

Advanced Micro Devices Inc. hired Marvell Technology Inc. executive Jean Hu as its next chief financial officer, replacing retiring company veteran Devinder Kumar.

(Bloomberg) — Advanced Micro Devices Inc. hired Marvell Technology Inc. executive Jean Hu as its next chief financial officer, replacing retiring company veteran Devinder Kumar.

Hu will join AMD on Jan. 23 as CFO and executive vice president, with Kumar staying until April to handle the transition, the chipmaker said in a statement Wednesday.

AMD’s new finance chief is a chip-industry veteran who served as Marvell’s CFO since 2016. Before that she worked at companies such as QLogic and Conexant.

She takes the job during a tumultuous time for AMD, which is coping with a slowdown in demand for personal computers. Its stock fell 55% last year, part of a broader slump for semiconductors. The company is slated to give its latest results on Jan. 31.

Marvell, meanwhile, said that Chief Accounting Officer Willem Meintjes will be elevated to the CFO role.
