(Bloomberg) — The Justice Department officially notified Florida Republican Representative Matt Gaetz that he won’t face charges in a long-running sex trafficking investigation.

“The Department of Justice has confirmed to Congressman Gaetz’s attorneys that their investigation has concluded and that he will not be charged with any crimes,” according to a statement from his office on Wednesday.

The Justice Department began an investigation in 2020 into allegations that Gaetz had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl in exchange for money. Gaetz denied the allegations and reports previously surfaced that prosecutors declined to recommend charges against him.
